Dedicated to criminal law and serving as a litigant, researcher and teacher, Bienvenido Fabián Melo
has accumulated an extensive understanding in both the practice and academic field of his area of expertise.
Professionally, he has worked as a prosecutor for seven years, occupying several positions at the National District Prosecutor’s Office, such as: head of the Homicide Department, head of the Anti-Narcotics Department and head of the Department of Organized Crime and Major Cases.
Fabián Melo is author of several texts, among which can be mentioned “Applied Logic in Law” and “The Legal Argumentation in the Judicial Debate and in the Structuring of the Sentence”. Also, he has published several essays and articles highlighting different social issues.
His academic achievements include earning a doctorate from the University of the Basque Country in Legal Argumentation, within the Democratic Society, State and Law Program, with a degree from the School of Law of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo. In addition to completing a specialty in Criminal Law, a degree awarded by the Public Ministry School of the Dominican Republic.
Considered an academic and research connoisseur, with extensive experience in criminal matters, Fabián Melo has taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in several renowned institutions, including: the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, the Catholic University of Santo Domingo and the Ibero-American University, in the following subjects: Procedural Budgets, General Criminal Law, Special Criminal Law, Criminal Procedural Law, Theory of Crime, among others.
